Career history: Worked for Land and Marine Tool
Rentals, PETCO Tool Rentals. I worked for myself as a
mechanic and welder for 20 years. I'm no longer working.
Spouse: Martha, worked as a bank
teller for 33 years. We met when I moved to Morgan City
after graduation.
Parents: Simon and Lydia
Bernard: They were farmers.
Personal interests: travel and
camping. Our leisure interests are primarily oriented to
the outdoors. In fact, we have traveled through most of the
Western United States.
Personal information: We have
three daughters, six grandsons, and three granddaughters.
Major events since BHS: Working
and living in Morgan City, where I raised my family and made
a good home for us.
Accomplishments: Always worked
and had good relationships with the people with whom I
worked.
Some things I recall about BHS:
Good friends and everyone seemed to get along very well.
The class members seemed to be on the friendly side. I
didn’t have a lot of close friends because I had to leave
right after classes, since I lived in the country and I had
to get home and get chores done. Bunkie was also a
wonderful place for living and having a good life.
Summary of the last 50 years: I
worked doing different things that I liked. Raising three
beautiful daughters, six beautiful grandsons and, and three
beautiful granddaughters of whom I am very proud. We have
owned a camper our whole married life, traveled in 35 states
and did a lot of fishing, crawfishing, and crabbing. Oh, by
the way, in 1958 I caught a 77-pound catfish in the
Atchafalaya River, and that’s no fish story. In fact, I
caught the fish on my brother’s birthday. Most of our adult
life was spent living in Morgan City. We moved to Patterson
about 15 years ago.
I retired to travel and enjoy my
family. There are no plans for major changes in our lives.
Information: I enjoyed all the
class reunions I attended. I had a chance to visit with
former classmates I haven’t seen in years.
