Education:
Went to St. Anthony’s through the seventh grade.  Four  years at Bunkie High School.  Very active in the Booster Club at BHS.

Parents:  Louis and Laura – Louis worked his entire career for CLECO, and Mom was a homemaker.  They had six children- Hazel, Stella, Rae and Gail, plus two boys., L.J. and Mac.

Career History:  Worked primarily as a homemaker.  After the children were mature, we were a team in the development of several successful business ventures.  The latest such venture was Bayou Magic, which has been successful beyond anyone’s imagination.  “We were a true team,.”  Talking to S.L. indicates the highest regard for my organizational skills.

Spouse:  S.L. – we went to school together forever, and were married soon after graduating from high school.   In fact next year will be “the big 50.”

Children:  3 Sid, Johanna and Laura, and 6 grandchildren all in the Shreveport area.

Life at Bunkie High:  These were grand times, from going to the Blue Moon to going swimming at the gravel pit.  From hamburgers at Kent Court, to curlie  ques at the Bamboo.  A sense of safety and security was taken for granted.  The teachers were great, and the sense of belonging and friendship was comforting.  Young people today have no way of understanding what they have missed by having to grow up without the things we took for granted.  The St  Romains and Mrs Hatley cared for us, helped us  learn and gave us a start on life.

Life after BHS:  Life became family, camping, fishing and hunting, which the whole family enjoyed, especially being together.  Later the “Gail School of Cooking” became a big  thing, with the children and grandchildren wanting to develop cooking skills.   That is truly a good life, which we continue to enjoy with family and friends.

Looking back makes us realize – Life is a Blessing, and our pride in what we have developed is a tremendous motivator.
