Education:        USL and LSU, focusing on Chemistry

Career: Analytical Chemist, Dow Chemical (32 years), Consultant for Dow Chemical after retirement (8 yrs).  Supervising Control Labs, a key component of Dow’s product quality control.  I have stayed in LA except for six months I spent near Houston setting up a lab.

Professional Achievements:  10 patents (pertaining to analytical chemistry) for Dow Chemical

Personal Interests:  Fishing, Hunting, Gardening, and Woodwork, and Church

Spouse:  Mary Lou Sullivan (deceased, 1998) taught for almost 10 years, but her real career was homemaker for which she had superior skills.  We met at Coffee Call in downtown Baton Rouge, LA.  A group of her friends met with a group of mine.  She shared my love for hunting and fishing.  Our motor home allowed us to enjoy these interests.

Parents:  Grant and Evelyn Witty - My father was Depot Agent and my mother was a teacher.

Personal Information:  Children 5; grandchildren 17

Major Events after BHS:  Getting married and raising 5 children who are doing well and have become community leaders.

Recollections of BHS:  Lots of fun.  Loved athletics, especially football, and playing in the band.  Enjoyed having very good friends at BHS.  I had a high regard for the teachers.  Mrs. Hatley was a very good teacher.

After BHS: I went to college then I went to work with Dow Chemical Company. Early in my tenure with Dow, I was drafted.  I went through boot camp, then I got a letter informing me that my work had received a classification of “Critical Skills,” so was I was released to go back to my work, and to serve out my time in the Inactive reserves.  I received various promotions and was finally promoted to setting up laboratories throughout Dow as well as training employees to perform the work in them.  I ended my career at Dow in Research and Development and retired in 1992.  After retirement I started a consulting company for Dow and worked in it for the next 8 years.

Hopes for the Future: To continue to make friends and enjoy life.

I have a very close family, which is one of my many blessings.  We are together at all holiday events.  I am looking forward to all BHS reunions.  I love and miss ya’ll a lot.
