Education: Two years college at Northwestern State
Professional Achievements:
Director of Engineering, Trax Engineering & Assoc and Rio
Grande Pacific Corp, owner –Railroad Planning, Inc.
My parent’s names are Howard &
Thelma Crouch. Dad retired from T & P Railway after 40
years of service. He passed away in 1987 and Jerry passed
away in 1996. My mother is still living at 93 years old.
Joe, Al (Pautch) and Sara all live in the Ft. Worth area.
Personal and Leisure Interests:
Following TCU football and basketball, high school sports,
fishing and taking care of the cattle on my small ranch.
I am still working as a consultant to
Rio Grande Pacific Corporation.
Accomplishments: Reconstruction
of a short line railroad following the flood of 1995. The
total cost was $12.5 million, which was partially funded
through a grant from the State of Oklahoma. The project
involved rebuilding 15 bridges and 80 miles of railroad.
The thing I remember best about Bunkie
is how our family was accepted.
Fifty year summary: I had two
years of college, worked for the T & P and National Homes
until entering U.S. Army in 1959. I was stationed in
Germany during the Berlin Wall construction. I was
discharged in 1962, and returned to Texas to work for T&P
and Missouri Pacific Railroads until 1979. I also went into
business for myself under the name Trax Engineering &
Assoc., which became a nationwide railroad-engineering
firm. We did work in 35 states. Rio Grande Pacific was a
related company that acquired shortline railroads in
Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas, Nebraska, Idaho, and Oregon. I
oversaw all engineering and maintenance operations along
with my duties at Trax.
In 1980 I built a log cabin on our
place outside of Bowie, TX. This ranch is about 70 miles
north of Ft. Worth. We bought it in 1975. It is 130 acres
with two 5-6 acre lakes. Both are stocked with Florida Bass
and catfish. The property also has a stream and a few cows,
which let me furnish my family with beef every year. The
family (20-25 people) come to my house to celebrate for 2-3
nights each Christmas. Everyone also spends Memorial Day at
my house.
My hopes for the future are to
stay healthy, share time with family and friends, and keep
in touch with my classmates. There are no big plans
otherwise.
